MASQ Community Music School

The Marian Anderson String Quartet is proud to announce the grand opening of  the Marian Anderson String Quartet Community Music School serving the musical and educational needs of the Bryan College Station Community.

The Community Music School will be located at the First United Methodist Church of Bryan at 506 E.28th Street in Bryan, TX.    Classes and lessons will be held on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3pm to 8pm and Saturdays between the hours of 10am and 7pm.

The spring semester of the Community Music School begins on January 4, 2010.  Registration for the spring semester begins on December 11, 2009.

The mission of the Marian Anderson Community Music School is to provide quality music education to the Brazos Valley region of Texas in an environment that fosters achievement, nurtures creativity and offers to all who attend, regardless of economic circumstances, the opportunity to enrich the quality of  their lives.

A quality music education will help young people develop creativity, confidence, discipline and responsibility.  The Community Music School places special emphasis on playing chamber music, a skill which also develops teamwork, creative problem solving and leadership and communication skills.

The curriculum will be structured to accommodate the needs of both young people and adults and will include:

-Individual lessons for all ages in violin, viola and cello

-Weekly group lessons for children ages 5 to 8

-Weekly group lessons for adult beginners

-Monthly master classes for intermediate students ages 9 to14, and advanced students ages 15 to 18

-Chamber ensembles for all ages

The Marian Anderson String Quartet Community Music School will also provide    weekly classes for all ages in the following categories:

-Music History

-Music Theory

-Music Appreciation

-Sight Singing

These classes are designed for all members of the Bryan/College Station community and are offered at a reduced rate for those students enrolled in individual lessons.
